Driving to the Sternberg Museum
Coming in from the East:
- Take I-70 West
- Exit 161 and turn right onto Commerce Parkway
- At the intersection, turn left onto E 27th Street into town
- Turn right onto Canterbury Drive at the four-way stop – The Museum will be at the end of the road
- Turn left into the Museum’s parking lot
Coming in from the West:
- Take I-70 East
- Exit 159 to Vine Street (US-183) towards Hays
- Turn right onto Vine Street and into Hays
- In less than a mile, turn left onto E 27th street
- In less than a mile, left onto Sternberg Drive – you will see a “Sternberg Museum of Natural History” sign at the entrance of the driveway.
- Follow the road to the Museum’s parking lot
Coming in from the North:
- Take US-183 South
- Upon arriving at Hays, continue on US-183 (Vine Street)
- In less than a mile, turn left onto E 27th street
- In less than a mile, left onto Sternberg Drive – you will see a “Sternberg Museum of Natural History” sign at the entrance of the driveway.
- Follow the road to the Museum’s parking lot
Coming in from the South:
- Take US-183 North
- Upon arriving at Hays, continue straight on US-183 (Vine Street)
- In a mile, turn right onto E 27th street
- In less than a mile, left onto Sternberg Drive – you will see a “Sternberg Museum of Natural History” sign at the entrance of the driveway.
- Follow the road to the Museum’s parking lot
Parking at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History
The Museum has parking available on the west side and the south side of the Museum. Bus and RV parking is available on the east side across the street from the Museum. It is just a short walk from the parking lot to the Museum’s main entrance. There are sidewalks and ramps for visitors in strollers and wheelchairs. Handicaps parking is available in the front of the Museum by the main entrance.
Drivers may drop off passengers at the front entrance of the Museum and then park vehicles. Please note: Children under eight should not be left at the drop-off without the company of an adult.

ACCESS provides on-demand transportation in Hays and Ellis County. The local funding sources for ACCESS are the City of Hays and Ellis County.
Tickets can be purchased from the driver; however, the driver cannot make change. If you do not have the correct change. To purchase tickets, you may either stop by the main office at 1205 East 22nd Street, Hays, or send a check to the noted address, and the tickets will be mailed to you.
